Los Angeles, CA (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Manny Ramirez continued his hot stretch
with the Dodgers with a pair of hits, RBI and walks and James Loney knocked in
three runs on three hits, as Los Angeles held off a late Philadelphia charge
for an 8-6 victory in the opener of a four-game set from Chavez Ravine.
Casey Blake had two hits including a two-run homer while Jeff Kent and Matt
Kemp had three hits each for LA, which moved to one game back of idle Arizona
in the NL West with the win after dropping two of three to San Francisco in a
weekend series.
Derek Lowe (9-10) fared well for LA, giving up three runs on five hits and a
walk with three strikeouts in 6 1/3 innings while Phillies starter Kyle
Kendrick (10-6) was abused for seven runs on nine hits and three walks in
lasting only 3 1/3 innings. Kendrick had won back-to-back starts coming in
while Lowe halted a personal two-start losing streak.
Chase Utley had three hits and two RBI and Jimmy Rollins had two hits with a
runs scored and an RBI for Philadelphia, which had a modest two-game winning
streak snapped. The Phils remain atop the NL East, holding a two-game
advantage over the Mets. The Marlins are 2 1/2 games back.
